Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT):

Practical Strategies for Managing Your Mental Health

CBT is a structured, goal-focused therapy that helps you understand the connection between personalised triggering situations, your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Together, we'll develop a ‘tool box’ of practical strategies to manage your symptoms and improve your wellbeing including techniques to help regulate your nervous system, skills to take control back over challenging thinking, developing emotional awareness, and adapting behaviours to make positive changes in how you approach your distress.

What CBT can help with:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety disorders including: Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Panic Disorder

  • Low self-esteem

  • Sleep problems

  • Stress management

What to expect: CBT is typically a short to medium-term therapy, with most people attending between 12-16 sessions depending on their needs. Therapy is structured and collaborative, with practical exercises designed to work towards your therapy goals. Tasks are set between sessions to reinforce what you have developed within each appointment.

My approach: I integrate CBT techniques with a compassionate, person-centered approach, ensuring therapy feels supportive and unique to your own needs and treatment goals, rather than prescriptive.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Effective Treatment for Trauma and PTSD

EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy specifically designed to help you process and heal from traumatic experiences and PTSD. Unlike traditional talking therapies, EMDR works by helping your brain process blocked distressing memories, reducing their emotional impact, the experiences of flashbacks and nightmares, allowing you to live without the distress of these experiences dominating your life.

What EMDR can help with:

  • PTSD for single, isolated incidents; such as accident.

  • CPTSD for multiple traumatic incidents; such as childhood trauma or sexual abuse.

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Panic attacks

  • Phobias

  • Addiction

  • Depression

What to expect: EMDR therapy typically involves 12-16 sessions, though this varies depending on your individual needs. We'll work at a pace that feels right for you, building safety and stability before processing traumatic memories. Many clients experience significant relief within a few months.

Evidence base: EMDR is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) as an effective treatment for PTSD.

NEW Intensive EMDR Programme

Complete Your Trauma Recovery in Days, Not Months

I'm excited to offer this pioneering approach to EMDR therapy. Intensive EMDR delivers the same NICE-recommended, evidence-based treatment as traditional EMDR therapy, but condensed into extended 3-hour blocks over consecutive days. This means you can complete your trauma recovery in days rather than months.

Why choose intensive therapy:

Equally effective - Research shows intensive therapy for PTSD is as effective as weekly sessions
Faster results - Complete weeks of therapy in just a few days
Maintain momentum - No setbacks from weekly gaps between sessions
Deeper focus - Extended 3-hour session blocks allows complete immersion in your recovery
Less disruption - No need for long-term work or childcare arrangements
From home - Delivered online via secure video in the comfort of your own space

The programme includes: Your bespoke 14-hour programme includes 2 assessment sessions, 2 self-regulation development sessions, 9 hours of intensive EMDR processing delivered in 3-hour blocks within one week, and a follow-up session.

What the research says: Research by Dr. Sarah Butler shows that people who undertake intensive therapy feel safe, protected, and connected during the process. They value the ringfenced time and space to focus on themselves, and find the experience powerful, worthwhile, and effective. All participants in Dr. Butler's research said they would recommend intensive therapy to a friend or wished they had come across it years ago.
